Choosing the Right Material for Your Banner

Vinyl flex is the standard for outdoor hoardings, storefront banners and roadside signage — durable, weatherproof and available in a wide range of thicknesses depending on how long the banner needs to last. Mesh banner material allows wind to pass through the print, making it the safer choice for large building wraps and scaffolding covers where solid vinyl would create dangerous wind load.

Backlit film is purpose-built for illuminated light boxes, diffusing light evenly across the printed surface so your graphic looks just as good lit up at night as it does in daylight. Blockout fabric is the premium choice for double-sided banners and indoor displays where light bleed-through needs to be eliminated.

Finishing — Eyelets, Hemming & Mounting

Outdoor banners are typically finished with hemmed edges for added strength and brass or plastic eyelets spaced at regular intervals for secure mounting with rope, cable ties or bungee cords. Pole pockets are used where a banner needs to slide onto a frame or pole, common for street pole banners and event signage. We advise on the right finishing combination based on where and how the banner will be installed.

We recommend roll-up standees for businesses that attend multiple events throughout the year, since the hardware is reusable — only the printed banner needs replacing for a new campaign.

Artwork & File Requirements

For large-format printing, supply artwork as a high-resolution PDF, AI or EPS file in CMYK colour mode, scaled appropriately for the final print size — generally at least 100–150 DPI at full scale for vinyl and mesh, and higher resolution for close-viewing displays like standees. Our in-house design team will check your layout, recommend bleed and safe-zone margins, and send a digital proof for approval before any large-format job goes to print.
